About Us

Artistic Trail Maps offers realistic and faithful illustrations of ski areas by renowned artist James Niehues. These regional views of ski resorts located throughout the entire world highlight the region's features while offering an inspiring perspective with high visual appeal.

Jim Niehues hand paints and airbrushes these large format watercolor originals so that they capture the detail, natural beauty, and definition of both the resort and surrounding area. He has captured the attention of many with his custom mapmaking, and he has covered roughly 75% of the "large resorts."

James Niehues has gained international recognition as a resort and panoramic illustrator. Over the past 20 years his artwork has graced the covers and pages of hundreds of tourist bureaus, chambers of commerce, ski resorts, brochures, maps, websites, and other mediums both printed and electronic. He was even featured in a 2006 edition of Fortune Magazine.

Artistic Trail Maps is proud to offer over two hundred ski resort reproductions originally painted by artist James Niehues. In keeping with his dedication to quality, sensational realism, and faithful visual understanding, we offer our posters via the Giclee printing process that matches the color, contrast, and detail that you have come to expect from Jim Niehues.

Our Products

Artistic Trail Maps sells posters, plaques, and magnets depicting ski area resorts, national parks, and vintage ski art. At the moment our antique ski art images focus on the Mount Mansfield and the ski hills of Stowe, Vermont. We are constantly adding new products to display our high quality and original images on, so please check our website often.
